These are 4 early signs of Alzheimer’s disease

Alzheimer’s is very common disease as it affects 1 in 14 people over 65 and 1 in 6 people over 85. That’s why it is very important to know the early symptoms of this disease.

What causes Alzheimer’s disease?

Many people believe that Alzheimer is the same thing as dementia, but it is actually only one type of it. Alzheimer’s disease is degenerative disease, which means that it can’t be stopped or reversed. We still don’t know what is the exact cause of this disease, but one of the causes might be lack of communication between nerve cells that leads to memory loss.

What are the symptoms?

Memory loss – People who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease can’t memorize new information. They start forgetting what happened yesterday, who did they talk to, what did they eat…

Cognitive issues – They gradually start losing the ability to think and understand things. This can lead to disorientation in time and space and it can affect their social relations.

Losing touch with reality – Patients usually imagine things that didn’t really happen. For example they might believe that someone had stolen something from them, when in fact they have just lost that item somewhere.

Problems with simple tasks – Everyday activities such as eating or dressing up may become very difficult for the patients. They have problems with things they have been automatically doing whole their life.

How to treat Alzheimer’s disease?

Unfortunately, the cure for this disease doesn’t exist for now. There are treatments and medicines that are believed to inhibit early stages of this disease, but it hasn’t been confirmed yet. However, there are some treatments and medicines that can help patients and improve their lives. If you are dealing with someone affected by this disease, the most important thing is to make sure that they feel safe. It is better for them to stay in their home and with people who love them, for as long as possible
